To celebrate the 100th anniversary edition of its internal format digital.morning, ERGO Group AG broke new ground by hosting the event in an interactive, virtual 3D world. Developed and implemented by RAVE.SPACE, the event allowed 330 participants to seamlessly access the digital experience from their smartphones, desktops, or even VR headsets, without requiring any additional software.
This innovative approach was designed to provide employees with a modern, inspiring environment where technological innovations could not only be showcased but also experienced firsthand. For over seven years, the digital.morning has served as a platform to introduce employees to emerging technologies and trends, breaking down barriers and demonstrating their relevance to daily work. For this milestone event, ERGO’s Chief Digital Officer Mark Klein, along with Matthias Nawrocki, ERGO’s Head of Metaverse, aimed to take the format to a new level by immersing participants in the future of digital collaboration within the Metaverse.
An Immersive Event Experience
At the core of the experience was a virtual event location where participants could navigate freely using personalized avatars. This customization allowed employees to become active participants in a shared digital space, fostering new ways of communication, collaboration, and networking. RAVE.SPACE’s cutting-edge, browser-based platform ensured accessibility for all, eliminating the need for installations or technical expertise, thereby removing potential barriers to participation.
The platform demonstrated how events can be elevated by leveraging Metaverse technology, creating an engaging and interactive environment. Built on RAVE.SPACE’s proprietary RAVE ENGINE, the experience was entirely browser-based, enabling seamless access across various devices. Utilizing WebGL technology, the platform leveraged the computing power of participants’ devices to render high-quality 3D content in real-time, ensuring a smooth and immersive experience.
Why the Metaverse?
Choosing the Metaverse for this special event was more than a technological showcase; it was a demonstration of how the Metaverse can redefine the way we connect, collaborate, and communicate. The participants were able to directly experience the benefits of immersive digital spaces, from real-time interactions to dynamic group exchanges, surpassing the limitations of traditional virtual conferencing.
The event not only underscored the potential of these emerging technologies but also reinforced ERGO’s commitment to fostering innovation and digital transformation. By interacting through voice chats, switching between groups, and exploring shared virtual spaces, employees experienced a sense of community that is difficult to achieve in standard digital formats.
Efficient and Scalable Execution
Despite its ambitious scope, the entire project was completed within just one and a half months—a remarkable achievement that highlights the efficiency and scalability of RAVE.SPACE’s technology. Participants were divided into groups of 20 to optimize performance and interaction, ensuring an engaging and smooth experience for everyone.
A Vision for the Future
This milestone event serves as a proof of concept for ERGO, showcasing the Metaverse’s potential as a platform for internal events and external engagements. By leveraging RAVE.SPACE’s browser-based solutions, ERGO has paved the way for more interactive and accessible digital experiences. The company envisions expanding the use of the platform to host future events, including customer-facing experiences, with plans to eventually incorporate VR capabilities for even greater immersion.
This project exemplifies how modern technology can drive innovation and transform traditional event formats into cutting-edge digital experiences. It demonstrates the vast potential of the Metaverse as a future-oriented platform for collaboration, learning, and interaction.
